Meditating on the Greatest Chapter of the Greatest Sermon--Matthew 6

Course description: The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) given by Jesus himself is arguably the greatest sermon that has ever been recorded, and perhaps ever given. As followers of Christ, we are commanded to abide in the vine, who is Jesus. John 15:7 says, “That if we abide in Christ and his WORDS ABIDE in us, ask (pray) whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” To be a Christian means we abide in Christ, and to abide in Christ means that his WORDS must abide in us. Practically speaking, that means meditating and thinking on them long enough and deep enough that they take root in me. To that end, we will not only study Matthew 6 together, but we will also endeavor to memorize all of Matthew 6 together! It will be hard work, but it will be well worth it if you truly want to follow Jesus and become more like him for his glory! Whether you’ve memorized big passages before or never done so, this class is for you! The goal isn’t perfection or even to just stick on the schedule of memorizing that I’ve laid out in this class (see below). If you can get Matthew 6:1-4 memorized, and Matthew 6:19-24 memorized and really understand them, they will serve you extremely well!
