Class Time: 6:30-8:00pm (dates listed below)

Course Description: This course provides training to help individuals reduce suicide risks for friends and family. Individuals who attend all four sessions will receive 1.5 CEUs for suicide prevention. This training utilizes QPR, an evidence-based intervention, discusses how the Bible addresses suicide, and provides knowledge on community resources to love those who struggle with suicide ideation.

Course Objectives:

-Understand and recognize warning signs, statements, and circumstances where individuals have a heightened risk for suicide.

-Practice conversations that help identify a suicidal person and reduce risk through intervention.

-Review passages in the Bible that discuss suicide and how individuals can love others who are suffering.

-Understand how law enforcement, the judicial system, and medical providers interact with individuals who are imminently at risk.

Cost: $20. Please pay when you arrive to class. If cost is a barrier, scholarships are available by contacting our Church email: faith@faithlafayette.org

Bio

Lee D. Morrison, Associate Director of Student Advocacy and Deputy Title IX Coordinator is located in the department of Residential Life. Lee serves on the senior leadership team that manages all aspects of residential life for nearly 13,000 students. This includes providing leadership and oversight for all residential life staff on threat management, student of concern reports and Title IX case follow up. Current responsibilities include providing crisis management supervision for all students living in the residence halls, conduct case administration, and departmental collaboration. He earned a master’s degree from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University. Lee is married to his wife Emily who actively helps him in serving at Faith Church. His ministry involvement includes serving on the counseling ministry and teaching an adult Sunday school class. His community involvement is with the Tippecanoe Election Board as a poll worker and the Lafayette Community Foundation – Men Who Give.
