The Solid Character of God
I. God is unchanging
Mal 3:6 says, “For I the LORD do not change.”
Therefore, God keeps His promises.
Gen 12:2-3 And I will make of you (Abram) a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Gen 15:5 And he brought him (Abram) outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
Gen 15:18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates.
For those of you who are His followers, who have made the great exchange and have given Him your sin stained robes for His righteous robes, this means that:
NOTHING THAT TRULY MATTERS WILL EVER CHANGE!
II. God determines His character, we don’t!
Isaiah 64:8 says, But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
I have an obligation to find out who He is, and what He is like.
Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
Joshua 23:3 And you have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations for your sake, for it is the LORD your God who has fought for you.
Deut 3:22 You shall not fear them, for it is the LORD your God who fights for you.’
Matt 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Eph 4:1-3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
