2025 Scripture Reading Challenge

Transcript:

Janet: Anytime we can be in the Word of God more, we're going to be blessed and strengthened. The past several years, we've enjoyed some exciting scripture challenges along with our JJP listeners.

Jocelyn: Yeah, it's been great to be stretched and challenged to learn and meditate on scripture more. And so cool to get to do it with our JJP listeners. We've gotten to memorize scripture together. We've gotten to read through the Bible together.

Janet: And now we're excited to announce our 2025 annual scripture challenge.

Jocelyn: Our 2025 scripture challenge is called, Jesus in the Gospels.

Janet: So, we'll be studying all four Gospels in 2025. Particularly looking at Jesus, and how he's portrayed in each of them. We're going to be using a great book called Surprised by Jesus by Dane Ortlund, as well as commentaries written by biblical experts we appreciate.

Jocelyn: We'll be looking for the character of Christ, themes found in that gospel, symbolism, and the way Christ is portrayed throughout it. There's an info sheet in the show notes of this mini episode at the end of every episode during 2025 and on our website, but here are the basics. All we want you to do is study the book of the Bible during the quarter that we are studying it in quarter one. We're gonna be studying Jesus and Matthew and so we're gonna read and study during January through the end of March and then At the end of March, we'll have a mini episode to recap what we've learned in Matthew. For quarter two, we're going to be studying Jesus in Mark, studying from April through the end of June. Study as you'd like, and then join us for the mini episode that will air at the end of June. Quarter three, we'll be studying Jesus in Luke. Read and study. between July and the end of September, and then join us for the mini recap episode at the end of September. And then finally, on quarter four, we'll be studying Jesus and John. Read and study John with us from October through the end of December, and then join us for the final mini episode that will air at the end of the year.

Janet: Each gospel is short enough that it can be read multiple times in each quarter. You can do a verse by verse inductive study using commentaries. You can read along using Pastor Ortland's book. You can memorize portions. You can keep a running list of insights you learn about Jesus.

Jocelyn: And like I said, at the end of every quarter, we'll be airing a special mini episode where we recap some of the great things we've learned and meditated on, particularly about Jesus in that gospel.

Janet: Join us in 2025 and share your Bible study insights by using the hashtag Read with Jjp and Joyful Journey podcast on all social media. Email us at Joyful journey questions@outlook.com to let us know when you've completed the annual challenge and we'll send you a little something as an encouragement.

Jocelyn: In a world that is absolutely chaotic, we all need more of Jesus. We need to see him. We need to hear from him. We need to rejoice in his solutions and in his comforts. Join us in 2025 for a deep dive into Jesus in the gospels.
